Looking forward to our trip to TN late September. Stopping overnight en route to look at the Natural Bridge in Virginia. Then heading to Knoxville for a lecture, then a few days in Gatlinburg sightseeing. My good wife Sherry loaded up with tourism books from the local AAA office  and already we've found several places we'd love to visit in TN but won't have time to do so. Some time further in the future we're just going to have to head back down there!

Entertaining at grandson Grant's birthday party. The sign at the side of my table points out that all children running loose and unattended will be towed away and stored at owners' expense...   : )

The end of July saw a Paul Hallas issue of "Vibrations" (the magazine of the Psychic Entertainers Association) which received nice feedback from as far away as Germany and Australia. I'm glad it was well received by my peers in that part of the entertainment industry where there are so many whose creativity I admire myself.  Still to appear this year in print are  routines of mine in "The Magic Menu" the magazine for professional strolling magicians/entertainers, the card column in "The Linking Ring," and  the U.K produced "Mystery" magazine.  My chat column still appears in the quarterly "The LaBal" produced and edited by Al Smith. A recent issue of "MagicSeen" magazine contains an interview with me and another three ex pat magicians now living in the USA.

Other highlights for July were seeing the Walking With Dinosaurs show in Reading PA and visiting the PA wolf santuary. Sherry and I took grandson Grant with us on both trips.

Back in May for a drive out we visited Ringing Rock Park in Pottstown and banged on a few boulders to experience this weird phenomena. There are a few places in PA with rocks like this and this one may be the smallest but for us it is the nearest. With my kind of entertainment, it's not surprising I'm interested in strange stuff! Obviously on our trip back from Gatlinburg later in the year we plan to take the scenic route and visit some other strange places...

March 27th I strolled around performing magic at the Alopecia Spring Spectacular event at the VF Outlet . This annual event this year managed to raise $45,000 for the children's charity. In 2011 it will be on March 26th.

We thought we'd be escaping the snow on our England trip but we managed to find some there too! Fortunately we were able to warm up with a good curry and plenty of fish and chips and the weather improved before we came back. Our scenic trip of the Derbyshire Dales ended with car trouble and coincidentally since we came back in March our own car suffered similar problems which just goes to show that strange coincidences do not just happen in my show!!

We caught up with family and some of my English friends but not as many as I'd have liked to. Maybe next year we'll stay longer and I'll try and fit a few lectures in. Providing Icelandic volcanoes don't prevent us getting there in the first place!

Okay, I look to be enjoying a nice cup of tea in England, but I cheated, actually the photo was taken in Abigail's Tea Rooms in Reading PA.  If you're a bit of an Anglophile  like Victoriana or just like tea you'd probably enjoy a visit. They have been open in Reading for three years now.  A place to go on one of those nice sunny days we are just starting to get again (thankfully). Didn't take many pictures in England. I can take rainy day pictures back in PA.

No large road trips are planned for 2010 as yet. Might do a few lectures if they are within a days drive :) Then again, I do fancy a trip to the Smokey Mountains later in the year. Who knows what might develop.

Our  highlight of 2009  waswhen we had a road trip to Nova Scotia for the Meeting of The Minds get together in Halifax. I performed in the Friday night International show at the Atlantica hotel, picture below to the left.

Driving back we took a slightly different route nearer the East coast, but weather was not the best so we passed on the whale watching boat trip Sherry had wanted to fit in. She did take a great photo of the Peggy's Cove Lighthouse while in Nova Scotia though.

Back in March  was a lecture at Mingus Magic shop for magicians wanting to learn more, most items demonstrated and taught have been in my books but there were a couple of unpublished items including the ring and rope idea photographed below.

The photo below shows me with an unexpected award for Magician of the Month from Mingus Magic shop.

Thought this was a nice Fall picture I took whilst visiting Longwood Gardens in mid November . If you've never been to this place it is worth a visit, and less tiring than doing the River of Rocks walk at Hawk Mountain! :)

River of Rocks at Hawk Mountain

Tuesdays I am still at The Starlite Diner, between 6 and 8 p.m  The Starlite is located at 233 North Rt 100, Allentown. If coming from I-78, exit 49A, Route 100S. To confirm I'm actually working before a visit you could phone the Starlite on 610 395 4031

The Starlite looks a little like any roadside diner until you walk through the door and see the chandelier! Like Dr. Who's Tardis this place seems a lot bigger from the inside. Check out the sweets to finish your meal. The diet just has to go on hold! Lol.

If you visit  when I'm working, ask to see me perform. I entertain while people are waiting for their meals or after they have eaten, not during the meal itself.

Paul seen in the photo below (courtesy Lew M. Hill) performing strolling magic at a silent auction hosted by the The Rotary Clubs of Reading and West Reading/Wyomissing to raise money fot the libraries of Berks. Live music was also provided by Burning House. A fun evening for a worthy cause.

Paul shown here signing copies of his books after his lecture at the home of "Doc" Seaton for the Austin magic club. Doc and wife Millie were wonderful hosts and it made a change from stopping in hotels.

Picture of Paul, right, giving a talk to a completely different type of group, a local Cubs group. Paul talked about magic as a hobby, with a few demonstrations of course, but no secrets revealed! :)

Proof that for an experienced entertainer it's possible to entertain children with your eyes shut...And a not so scary ghost..

Whatever your upcoming event, discuss with Paul how his entertainment can help it be memorable.
